Serikandi’s existence is closely related to its founder, Shariffah Hajjah Maimunah Binte Syed Mohammad. Orphaned at a very young age Shariffah, in an endeavor to enhance the meager income of her guardian started making and selling a variety of Malay Kueh (Cakes). This experience taught her to be more prudent about time and money and molded her into a better person. Married to Sheikh Haji Ahmad Bin Sheikh Haji Syed who belonged to a family of business entrepreneurs, the couple began to nurture a common dream – “to build up their own family business.”

With her sheer determination to provide her eight children with a better life, she decided to start a small canteen in the Old Belait District Office Building in 1974. Shariffah and her husband Sheikh Haji Ahmad’s decision to focus fully in the food business brought unexpected results. Soon their son Sh Hj Khalid Bin SH Hj Ahmad joined the business, and with the help of his strategies and business Vision, Company transformed from a family owned business to a professionally managed organization. Serikandi was growing as both the Public and Private sectors relied on its unmatchable services and thus gaining a handful of contracts from Brunei Shell and its associates.

The company’s reliability, trustworthiness and the stringent approach towards safety and quality of services gained them the contract to cater for Brunei Shell Recreation Club, Brunei LNG, Brunei Shell Petroleum’s AMPA – 9 Offshore Platform and many such prestigious contracts in the following years.

The Serikandi Group has now diversified its activities from Café & Restaurant to Food & packaging industries, Fast food outlets, Information Technology Sector, Oil and Gas Sector, Marine and Engineering, Management Services, Retail and whole sale Shops.
